Previous Quiz from Silver Blaze created by James Young

The Wessex Plate is but a few days from running when the favorite, Silver Blaze goes missing during the night of the 25th of September.  William S. Baring-Gould places the adventure as occurring between Thursday, September 25, and Tuesday, September 30, 1890 with the race being on the 30th.  Let us investigate the depth of our knowledge of the events during those five days with the following trifling questions.

Let us begin with the much-referenced quote from this adventure.  If you are at all uncertain regarding your answer to this question, it is suggested that you put down your pencil and just sit quietly while the other Irregulars finish their labor.

  1. Regarding the curious incident of the dog in the night-time, what did the dog do? _______________                                                                            (10 points ___ )

With that issue resolved, let us move on to the section of the quiz related specifically to the adventure of the day.

During the train trip, Sherlock Holmes makes the statement (fill in the blanks) “The tragedy has been so uncommon, so complete, and of such personal importance to so many that we are suffering from a ___________ of __________, ____________, and ______________”.                                                                                                  ( 1 point each for a total of 4 points ___ )
